Focus of the Week!
Each week I will share a different learning goal that corresponds with what Responsibility, Organization, Independent Work, Initiative, Collaboration, or Self-Regulation looks like in our Grade 2 classroom. Please take some time to talk about our weekly focus with your child, and ask them to reflect on how they think that they are meeting that goal. You are also encouraged to talk about strategies as to how you can meet that goal, if it is an area that your child struggles with.
Independent Work :"During quiet work time, I don’t interrupt the focus of those sitting at my table group, and I move to a different location if I have difficulty concentrating.”

Ask me About...

Help your family stay in touch with what is going on in our class. You can use my idea(s) below to say to your parents...
-"Ask me to read and label a map of the world (e.g., cities, provinces, countries, continents, oceans, hemispheres, cardinal directions, poles, prime meridian and the equator). Ask me to explain the relationship between the equator and climate."
- “Ask me to estimate, measure and record length, height, perimeter and area, using standard and non-standard units.”

Halton District School Board Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Guidelines
If you have made the decision to go on vacation with your child during school time, please be aware of the following Halton District School Board policy:
"It is the expectation of the Halton District School Board that students will attend school on scheduled school days and take holidays according to the school year calendar. In the event that parents choose to take their child(ren) out of school at times other than school holidays, the onus lies with them to provide program. Teachers cannot provide detailed daily homework assignments that replicate the missed school work. Parents are encouraged to plan activities such as daily journals, travel logs, reading, and related mathematics, science and technology activities.
If there is anything that your child misses while away that his/her teacher feels needs to be completed, he/she will catch up upon his/her return to school."
